How to Treat Postpartum Depression Without Medication
Postpartum depression is a depression that sets in after the delivery of the baby. It is often called the "baby blues" and can make having a newborn very hard. If you are breastfeeding or don't want to take prescription medication for postpartum depression, try some of these natural ways to beat the baby blues

Step 1
Make sure you rest! It is very hard to cope with things when you are in a tired state, and being a mother to a newborn is guaranteed to make you tired. Sleep when the baby sleeps and cut down on demands like household chores to manage postpartum depression.
Step 2
The symptoms of postpartum depression tend to be worse with caffeine and excessive sugar intake. Try to fix nutritious meals and snacks that won't make your depression any worse.
Step 3
Get outside. A lack of sunlight can really worsen postpartum depression, so make it a priority to get outside at least 30 minutes per day.
Step 4
Talk to your spouse or friend. The 24 hour work day of a new mom is so consuming that she often forgets to connect with other adults. Adult conversation can really brighten your mood and help reduce postpartum depression.
